FORT LAUDERDALE WATER TAXI BUYS RIVER TAXI LLC

Boston-based parent company grows fleet to eleven

Fort Lauderdale, Fl–November 19, 2009 – Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi announced today that River Taxi LLC has merged with its fleet, increasing passenger capacity by 29% compared. The increase in capacity is a combination of the addition of the two River Taxi’s vessels, and the purchase of the Tropic Cat, a Florida-designed and -built Corinthian Catamaran.

“We are thrilled about this acquisition, and the additional service we will be able to provide with these new boats”, said Michael McGurl, Managing Partner of Boston’s Best Cruises, Water Taxi’s parent company. “We’ve seen about a 20% increase in passengers since fall of 2007, and leaving Guests on the dock is not an option.”

Joe Russo, owner of River Taxi LLC, concurs. “These guys know what they are doing”, he says of McGurl and partner Bill Walker. “We are now able to offer passengers more frequent service and express routes, which makes their already great experience even better!”

The company expects the two new boats to be in service for the Thanksgiving Holiday. “Joe kept the boats in great shape, they just need a coat of paint!” said McGurl, referring to painting the new vessels the signature Water Taxi yellow. Russo will be staying on as Captain, bringing his many years of experience operating vessels in Fort Lauderdale.

None of the three new boats will be used for the company’s South Beach trip. “We bring two 65’, double-deck catamarans down from Boston each fall, and use one for the longer trip to Miami” says McGurl. “The big boats offer so many more amenities.” The company also sends at least two of the Florida Water Taxis to Boston for service to the Boston Harbor Islands. “The seasons complement each other perfectly, in terms of maximizing use of our boats.”

The addition of the vessels to the Water Taxi fleet will improve access for passengers to the popular Cruise & Dine program, which is an added-value service to Guests. Guests show their Water Taxi ticket at one of over 20 participating restaurant and receive a discount on their bill. Walker calls it a win-win-win program: “The restaurants get an extra push from us on our website, in our brochures, and from our crew; we get to offer this added-value to the Guests; and the Guest walks away with not only a great time, but a great deal. That’s what I call more than just a boat ride!”
